CORSAIR GAMING K70 RGB KEYBOARD DRIVER
Design wise, the K70 MK.
The black brushed aluminium faceplate looks and feels suitably premium, broken only by a glossy black plastic trapezoid centred along the top, through which the Corsair logo glows. Build quality here is phenomenal and hard to fault. The aluminium clearly adds a lot of strength, but Corsair Gaming K70 RGB Keyboard plastic chassis is very strong in its own right.
You get a generous application of rubber padding to keep it planted, and the little flick-out legs have rubberised tips as well for good measure. Even the thick USB cable has a high Corsair Gaming K70 RGB Keyboard braid. The Speed switches do the job and are a real joy while playing fast-action shooter games. Above the numpad, Corsair has slightly tweaked the look of the media controls but otherwise left things unchanged.
Above the media keys is the excellent volume roll-bar. Corsair has moved the buttons for changing lighting brightness and the "gaming" button that disables the Windows key from the right-side to the left-side of the top of the keyboard, while adding a new key for switching profiles.
This is another one of the new features of the MK2; there's now 8MB of onboard memory for storing up to three different profiles, and you can switch between them without any additional software. The lighting on this keyboard really is the star of the show—perhaps the best feature on the new K70 after its overall incredible build quality.
The per-key lighting is obviously fully customizable and the brightness is just about perfect and it can be adjusted. And the story remains the same elsewhere. PBT plastic keycaps would likely put the price up considerably, anyways.
However, Corsair has played the MK. Little has changed that will be have any major impact on your use of the keyboard, or that risks the coveted top spot, and the formula remains the same despite the tough competition from the likes of Razer, Roccat, and Logitech.
